Chimney Sweeping

Chimney Sweeping: Regular maintenance is needed to remove the combustible deposits from your wood burning system. Sweeping is more than just pushing a brush down a chimney. A professional will sweep the flue, clean the thimble, connector pipe & area above the baffle (wood stove), or for a fireplace: Sweep flue, brush and vacuum the smoke chamber/smoke shelf, damper and firebox. Did you realize that when a fireplace flue is brushed down that most of the soot & creosote falls onto the smoke shelf (behind the damper) where it cannot be seen from below? If it is not removed, it could still present a fire hazard!

A visual evaluation will also be done to assess possible defects, chimney fire damage or safety issues related to improper installation or code violations. Performance problems can be evaluated and discussed.

Many insurance companies strongly recommend that policyholders use only Certified Chimney Sweeps.

Most 1 story flues are $139.
Most 2 story flues are $149.

Extra difficulty in roof access (need for safety equipment) or extremely dirty flues may incur additional charges. Discounts are available for: Multiple Flues, Spring Cleaning, and Senior Citizens. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Chimney Relining

Chimneys with damaged or missing liners can allow heat to move quickly through to adjacent combustible materials causing a structure fire. Toxic gases, including carbon monoxide, can escape into the living area. Most chimneys built before the 1940's have no flue liners at all.

Options for relining chimneys include: Clay tile liners, stainless steel liners or Supaflu cast-in-place masonry liners that also help strengthen the chimney from the inside.

We recommend and install four types of U.L. Listed chimney lining systems. The cost of relining a chimney varies with the size and type of the system. Chimneys that have been damaged by a chimney fire are usually covered by homeowners insurance. An interior video chimney scan can help provide documentation for such a claim.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Dryer Vent Cleaning: Lint collects in cloths dryer vents and is the major cause of slow drying time. A fire in a dryer vent can start a fire in the wall, floor or ceiling that it passes thru. There are as many dryer vent fires in the U.S. every year as there are chimney fires.

Our mechanized rotary brush can clean through angles and bring your dryer's venting system back to its optimum capacity. We measure the airflow of the vent before and after cleaning with a vane anemometer to determine the amount of improvement. We've measured improvements of 15% up to 400%. A 50% improvement in airflow is very common. The cost to clean most dryer vents is $99.
